A Star Wars fan surprised the internet this Christmas after taking his gift allowance very seriously. His wife told him he could buy one Star Wars figure for the holidays. What showed up at home was not a small collectible, but a full-size droid that looks like it stepped out of a movie set.

The story comes from Reddit, where the fan shared the moment in the r/StarWars community. The user, known as u/StevelKanevel, posted a photo of a tall black KX-series security droid standing inside his house. The replica has glowing eyes and movable arms and legs. It stands nearly as tall as the room itself.

Along with the image, he explained the situation in a short caption. “My wife said I could treat myself to one new Star Wars figure for Christmas. I think I chose well.” The post quickly took off and gained around 18,000 upvotes as fans reacted to the unexpected choice.

People in the comments had fun with the idea that the deal was technically followed. One user joked, “I find that answer vague and unconvincing!” Another asked if the wife really approved of the result, adding, “She’s letting you keep it?! Would you like to know the probability of her using it against you?”

Other replies leaned into Star Wars humor. One comment read, “Congratulations. You are being divorced. Please do not resist.” Another wondered about safety, asking, “Why would you allow your children to be around a fully operational KX-series security droid?!?!?” The owner responded in the same playful tone, saying, “To keep the children in line. He’s my new nanny-bot.”

Some fans were curious about how stable the large figure was. When asked if it could tip over, the poster explained that it is secured to the wall. “It’s pretty stable, but I have children, so I don’t trust them around him unless he’s anchored,” he wrote.

The post also encouraged others to share similar stories. One user recalled a life-size Han Solo frozen in carbonite that someone hid in a closet to surprise their partner. The reveal did not go quietly. “He opened the closet door and there was a screaming man coming out of the wall,” the commenter said, adding that the reaction was pure panic.
