‘Marty Supreme’ Breaks All-Time Box Office Record for A24
Marty Supreme has posted a huge start at the box office. The film earned $10.8 million on its domestic opening day, setting a new record for A24.
According to early box office reports industry tracking outlets, this is the biggest opening day ever for a film released by the studio. It also ranks as the third biggest Christmas Day opening of all time for an R-rated movie.
The movie first opened in a limited release on December 19 in just six theaters, located in Los Angeles and New York City.
During its opening weekend, Marty Supreme made $875,000. This resulted in a per-theater average of $145,933, which is the highest ever for an A24 film. Industry sources note that this is also the best per-theater average for any film since La La Land in 2016.
With strong early demand, box office analysts project the film will earn between $12 million and $20 million over its four-day Christmas release as it expands nationwide.
