Kim Kardashian Slammed by PETA for Giving Kids Four Dogs: ‘Puppies Are Not Plushies’

Kim Kardashian is under fire after giving each of her four children a Pomeranian puppy for Christmas.

The reality star shared a photo of the puppies snuggled together on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Each kid got a puppy.”

She also posted family photos in their Christmas pajamas from her SKIMS brand. Kardashian has four kids with ex-husband Kanye West, North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6.

Animal rights organization PETA criticized Kardashian’s choice, with founder Ingrid Newkirk speaking to the Daily Mail.

She said, “Puppies are not plushies, and it’s a damn shame that Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that.” Newkirk added, “Ignoring the homeless animals crisis is inexcusably callous.”

The activist urged Kardashian to contact PETA or a local shelter before bringing new animals into her home and suggested she could make amends by sending her children to volunteer at an animal shelter. She also recommended funding an adopt-a-thon or a spay day to help combat the growing number of homeless dogs.

Newkirk did not stop with Kim. She also called out Kim’s sister, Khloé Kardashian, for adding a black Labrador puppy to her family.
