Joe Rogan has criticized Donald Trump for attacking the late director Rob Reiner following his death.

Reiner’s son, Nick, has been arrested in connection with the deaths of his parents. Trump claimed that Reiner’s death was “due to the anger he caused others” because of his outspoken criticism of the president.

Speaking on his podcast with comedian Shane Gillis, Rogan called Trump’s comments “not funny” and said they showed a lack of empathy. “When you see it with no empathy, that’s when it’s hard to like. Listen, there’s no justification for what he did that makes any sense in a compassionate society,” Rogan said.

He compared the remarks to celebrating a violent attack, noting, “It’s no different than people that were celebrating when Charlie Kirk got shot. It’s the same kind of thing.”

Rogan also imagined a scenario where a former president had made similar remarks about a deceased individual. “Imagine if Obama tweeted something about someone after they died in this way. That this person was a deranged person that hated Obama. It just shows you how crazy it is, the way Trump thinks and talks,” he added.

He expressed disappointment that Trump had publicly posted his opinions, saying, “It’s so disappointing. It’s like why… if you say that privately that’s one thing, which is also crazy, but it’s so disappointing.”

Trump shared his comments on Truth Social, writing that Reiner had a “mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS,” and blamed Reiner’s obsession with him for driving people “crazy.” Trump later defended his statement at a press conference, calling Reiner a “deranged person” and claiming he was “very bad for our country.”
