Netflix Drops First Trailer and Release Date for ‘Stranger Things’ Final Season Documentary
Netflix has announced the release date for its new documentary about the making of the final season of Stranger Things. Titled One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, the film will premiere on January 12.
The documentary offers fans an inside look at the effort and creativity that went into the Duffer Brothers’ hit series, according to Netflix’s logline.
The film is directed by Martina Radwan, who previously directed the 2023 documentary Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow and worked as a cinematographer on projects including the Emmy-winning Girls State.
Speaking about her experience, Radwan said, “I’m endlessly grateful to the Duffer Brothers for trusting me with a front-row seat to this incredible journey. Spending a full year on set with them was a true privilege – and an absolute thrill.” She added that the cast and crew welcomed her openly, sharing their experiences from a decade of making the series.

The newly released trailer gives a glimpse into the show’s final days. It opens with the last table read, where Ross Duffer reflects, “Writing the last lines these characters would ever say, it was really hard to do.” Matt Duffer adds, “I remember more than anything just writing ‘End Series.’ Writing those two words having the biggest impact,” as Noah Schnapp and Millie Bobby Brown get emotional.
The trailer also shows early photos of the young cast and plays David Bowie’s Heroes, a song featured multiple times throughout the series. Viewers get to see behind-the-scenes discussions about the fate of Eleven, with Brown saying in voiceover, “I’m not ready to let go.” The documentary concludes with Ross Duffer on the final day of filming: “And that is a wrap on ‘Stranger Things,'” as confetti falls from the ceiling.
The Duffer Brothers shared their thoughts on the project, explaining that watching behind-the-scenes documentaries of The Lord of the Rings inspired them to create a similar look at their own show. “With the decline of physical media, that kind of behind-the-scenes storytelling has largely disappeared. We wanted to bring it back,” they said.
One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 is a MakeMake Production, produced by Angus Wall, Terry Leonard, and Kent Kubena.
