Paramount+ Confirms Final Season for One of Its Most Popular Shows
“Mayor of Kingstown” is coming back for one last round. Paramount+ has confirmed the crime drama will return for a fifth and final season, which will be shorter than usual with just eight episodes.
The series stars Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky, a man who tries to keep order among criminals, cops, and prisoners in the small town of Kingstown, Michigan.
The fourth season ended with Mike’s control challenged as new powers rose to replace the Russians, culminating in a violent season finale that aired on December 28. The final season will explore the aftermath of that bloody gang war.
The cast includes Renner and Dianne Falco, along with Lennie James, Laura Benanti, series co-creator Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Nishi Munshi.
Hugh Dillon previously shared that he and creator Taylor Sheridan originally envisioned seven seasons of the show. While “Mayor of Kingstown” has received some praise from critics, it hasn’t reached the same level of ratings success as other Sheridan series like “Yellowstone” or “Tulsa King.”
Sheridan and Dillon serve as executive producers, alongside Renner, showrunner Dave Erickson, Antoine Fuqua, and several others. The show is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions, and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
