Sadie Sink Drops a Shocking Opinion About Eleven’s Fate in the ‘Stranger Things’ Finale
Sadie Sink has shared a very clear opinion about one of the biggest questions surrounding the Stranger Things finale. While fans are still debating what really happened to Eleven, Sink believes the answer is much darker.
The actress, who plays Max on the Netflix hit series, spoke about the ending during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. When asked if she thinks Eleven survived the final moments of the show, Sink did not hesitate. “I think she’s dead, I don’t know,” she said, which immediately shocked the audience.
Sink explained that her view comes from how she sees the story as a whole. In her mind, the ending is not about survival but about growing up and letting go. “I think Mike’s story is just one last story,” she said. “And then they say goodbye to childhood. But that’s just one final tale. And that’s it.” She later added that this way of thinking about the ending helps her deal with it emotionally, calling it “a coping thing.”

Her comments stand out because the show itself leaves Eleven’s fate unclear. In the final episode, Eleven appears to make a huge sacrifice by staying behind in the Upside Down to protect her friends and stop the government from using her powers again.
However, another character, Mike Wheeler, suggests that she may have faked her death with help from Kali so she could live freely. A final scene showing Eleven in a peaceful place only adds to the confusion.
Jimmy Fallon agreed with Sink’s take and said he also believes Eleven died. Sink responded by saying that her interpretation makes the ending feel more powerful. She also pointed out that the finale is meant to be open to interpretation, and this is simply how she sees it.
