Jacob Elordi Opens Up About His Childhood Movie Crushes

Actor Jacob Elordi recently shared some personal insights in an interview with W Magazine, revealing everything from his childhood movie crushes to his go-to karaoke song.

Looking back at his early screen obsessions, Elordi admitted, “I Dream of Jeannie. And then Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, in the film New York Minute. Both of them collectively. Also Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana. And Hilary Duff, when she’s in Italy in that one movie. There’s a frog in the fountain, and there was a boy on a moped. Whatever age I was when those came out, I remember that.”

When asked about films that really move him, he singled out Ang Lee’s Sense and Sensibility. “I was sitting there, eating ice cream, and then I just broke down with her character. I cried through that movie, just at the hopeless beauty of us all,” he said, describing a scene with Kate Winslet that hit him hard.

Elordi also revealed his favorite karaoke song, choosing “Walking in Memphis,” though he clarified, “but not Cher’s version.” On why that song resonates, he explained, “It’s the memory. I never actually walked in Memphis. It was during Covid, and I wasn’t allowed to jet off. But it was fun to be Sofia Coppola’s Elvis.”

On personality, Elordi described himself as more dog-like than cat-like. “Dog feels like a safe answer. Cat feels like I’m endowing myself with great stillness and wisdom,” he said.

Elordi has quickly become a prominent figure in pop culture. By the early 2020s, he earned a reputation as a Generation Z heartthrob and s** symbol. Gabriella Paiella of GQ called him “classic, undeniable leading man looks,” while Rolling Stone’s Larisha Paul described him as “Hollywood’s reigning heartthrob of the 2020s.” The Atlantic noted his height and striking features, saying he is “very tall” and “very handsome in a classical way.”
