A new drama film called Couture is starting to get a lot of attention, especially after its first trailer was released. The movie is written and directed by Alice Winocour and stars Angelina Jolie in the lead role. She is joined by Louis Garrel, Ella Rumpf, Garance Marillier, Anyier Anei, and Finnegan Oldfield.

The story follows an American filmmaker who travels to Paris during Fashion Week. What begins as a work trip slowly turns into a personal journey. The film looks at creativity, identity, and the people who work behind the scenes in the fashion world. Angelina Jolie plays Maxine Walker, a filmmaker who finds herself changed by the experience and the people she meets.

Couture first premiered in September at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it screened in the Special Presentations section. After that, the film continued its festival run with screenings in San Sebastián, Rome, and Manila, where it opened the QCinema International Film Festival.

One of the most talked-about parts of the production is where it was filmed. Couture is the first fictional movie ever allowed to shoot inside Chanel’s Paris showroom and atelier. According to past reports, Alice Winocour was given rare access to real fashion shows and to the workers who make the clothes. Her goal was to show fashion from a female and working-class point of view, instead of focusing on famous designers.

The cast was announced in late 2024, when the film was still using the working title Stitches. Filming began in Paris shortly after, and the project was later renamed Couture in early 2025.

Early reactions have been strong. Writing for Deadline, critic Pete Hammond praised the film and highlighted Jolie’s performance, calling it “an engrossing study of the humanity and vulnerability of those the rest of us just might see doing their job.” He also said the role stands among the best performances of Jolie’s career.
