Britney Spears Declares She’ll Never Hit the U.S. Stage Again – Here’s Why
Britney Spears has announced she will no longer perform in the United States. In a long Instagram post on Thursday night, the pop star said the decision is for “extremely sensitive reasons.”
The singer shared a throwback photo of herself at a piano and reflected on her personal journey. “Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about. Yup and it’s embarrassing sometimes… but I walked through the fire to save my life,” Spears wrote.
Although she ruled out U.S. performances, Spears hinted she might still take the stage overseas. “I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son… in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon,” she said. She also expressed admiration for her son, calling him “a huge star” and saying she is humbled by his presence. Spears did not clarify which of her two children, Sean Preston or Jayden, she meant in the post.
Spears last performed in the U.S. in October 2018, closing her “Piece of Me” tour in Austin, Texas. She had planned to return to Las Vegas in 2019 with a new residency called “Domination,” but she postponed the show and stepped away from performing due to family matters. At the time, she shared on Instagram, “I will not be performing my new show Domination… it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make.”
This announcement makes it clear that Spears is focusing on her family and personal life, while still leaving the door open for international performances.
It’s always interesting to see artists prioritize their well-being over touring schedules, especially someone as iconic as Britney Spears. Her fans will likely be disappointed about no U.S. shows, but her potential performances overseas could offer something exciting for international audiences.
