Daniel Stern, best known for his role as Marv in the classic 1990 holiday movie “Home Alone,” has found himself in hot water in California.

According to TMZ, the 68-year-old actor received a citation on December 10 in Camarillo for allegedly soliciting a prostitute. Stern was not arrested, but in California, solicitation is a misdemeanor that could carry up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine if convicted.

The timing of the citation comes during a busy period for Stern, who recently returned to a more personal project connected to his iconic film.

In an interview with People published on Christmas Eve, he explained that the owners of the “Home Alone” house in Winnetka, Illinois, asked him to create a sculpture for the property. Stern, who now lives on a ranch in Ventura, California, has focused on his art in recent years, specializing in bronze sculptures.

“I’m creating a sculpture of me and the spider,” Stern told People. The sculpture references the famous scene in which Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin, places a tarantula on Marv’s face, causing Stern’s character to scream in terror. “Which is gonna be kind of crazy. So it’ll be at the ‘Home Alone’ house so that spider, whatever his name was, Charlie, is being immortalized in bronze.”

Stern described the sculpture as his first self-portrait, joking that he has made himself “a lot handsomer than I actually am in real life. Just why not?”

Stern’s connection to the “Home Alone” franchise goes beyond the first film. He reprised the role of Marv in “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” where he and Joe Pesci’s character rebranded their criminal antics as the “sticky bandits.”

While Stern has mostly stepped away from Hollywood, he continues to stay active creatively through his art. His work has been featured in public art projects across California, including San Diego, Pasadena, Palm Desert, Temple City, Monrovia, and Agoura Hills. He is currently an artist in residence at Studio Channel Islands Art Centre in Camarillo and has completed private commissions, gallery exhibitions, and art fairs.

In addition to his artistic career, Stern manages a ranch and works as a cattle and citrus farmer. He has been married to actress Laure Mattos since 1980, and the couple has three children, including California State Senator Henry Stern. Despite his Hollywood past, Stern appears to focus largely on family and his art now.

Stern also recently faced a medical scare in October when he was rushed to a Ventura County hospital. His representatives later confirmed he was released and “now doing well,” according to TMZ. Stern has not publicly commented on the solicitation citation or his hospitalization.

Even after decades in the spotlight, Stern’s life now seems a mix of creative work, family, and managing his ranch, with occasional headlines reminding fans of his colorful past.
