Chris Noth has addressed the controversy over a recent Instagram comment that seemed to take aim at his former “Sex and the City” co-star, Sarah Jessica Parker. The actor posted on Wednesday to clarify his response and calm the online reaction.

Noth explained that his reply was spontaneous and lightly sarcastic. “My off-the-cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot. It is not news. It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about,” he wrote on Instagram.

The incident started when Noth shared a gym selfie on January 9 with the caption, “F*** new years – LET’S GO!!!!” A fan responded jokingly, “You mean f***sjp & her award right? lol,” referencing Parker receiving the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett Award. Noth replied simply, “Right.”

This exchange reignited attention on Noth’s past controversies. In December 2021, he was accused of s**** assault by two women. One woman, speaking under the pseudonym Zoe, told The Hollywood Reporter she was assaulted in 2004 in Los Angeles. Another woman, Lilly, identified as a journalist, alleged an assault in 2015 in New York City. Noth denied the claims, calling them “categorically false.”

Following these allegations, Noth was removed from the CBS series “The Equalizer” and the “Sex and the City” sequel, “And Just Like That.” Parker, along with her co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, released a joint statement at the time: “We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth. We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”

While Noth’s Instagram clarification aims to downplay the social media stir, the comment and his history continue to draw attention online.

This situation highlights how quickly casual social media interactions can spiral, especially for public figures with complicated pasts. It’s a reminder that offhand remarks can be interpreted in ways we don’t intend. What do you think about Noth’s response and the online reaction? Share your thoughts in the comments.
