Jonah Hill Nearly Unrecognizable in Blonde Wig and Glittering Outfit on ‘Cut Off’ Set After Dramatic Weight Loss
Jonah Hill looked almost unrecognizable on the set of his upcoming comedy Cut Off in Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 14. The 42-year-old actor sported a long blonde wig and camouflage cat-eye glasses that completely transformed his appearance.
He completed the bold look with a bedazzled shirt that featured the word SOS in flames over an American flag design and paired it with bejeweled jeans. Hill was seen chatting with producer Matt Dines between takes as they worked through scenes for the highly anticipated project.
Cut Off stars Hill alongside Kristen Wiig, with legendary performers Bette Midler and Nathan Lane playing their wealthy parents. Adriana Barraza and Langston Kerman recently joined the ensemble cast, which also features Grammy-nominated singer Camila Cabello.
The movie follows two wealthy siblings who are suddenly cut off by their parents and forced to figure out life on their own. Hill not only stars in the film but also directs, produces, and co-wrote the script alongside Ezra Woods.
Principal photography started in September 2025 in California, with Midler and Lane joining the production shortly after. The cast expanded over the following months with Wiig, Barraza, Cabello, Kerman, Chelsea Peretti, and Cary Christopher all signing on.
The film is set to hit theaters on July 17, via Warner Bros. Pictures, placing it in a competitive summer release window. Early buzz suggests the film will lean into the sharp, satirical comedy that both Hill and Wiig are known for.
Aside from his directorial efforts, Hill has been vocal about his personal journey and physical transformation over the last decade. In his 2022 documentary Stutz, he reflected on his relationship with his body and the impact of public scrutiny.
The media kept being really brutal about my weight, he shared in the film while discussing his mental health. It kept me from feeling any sense of being able to grow past negative feelings about myself.
As he celebrates his 42nd year, Hill appears to be focusing on projects that allow for complete creative control through his Strong Baby production banner. His recent work on You People for Netflix also saw him handling both acting and writing duties.
Hill’s commitment to his character’s eccentric wardrobe in the latest set photos suggests Cut Off will be a visually vibrant addition to his filmography. Between the blonde wig and the rhinestones, he is clearly leaning into the absurdity of his character’s situation.
As the July release date approaches, fans are eager to see the first trailer for what is being described as a quintessential summer comedy. With a $50 million budget and a star-studded cast, it is one of Warner Bros.’ biggest comedy bets for the year.
What do you think of Jonah Hill’s dramatic transformation and blonde wig for his new movie in the comments?
