Brooklyn Beckham has gone public with serious accusations against his famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham, revealing a family conflict that has been simmering for years. The eldest Beckham son shared his thoughts on social media, claiming that his parents controlled his life and tried to manipulate the media to protect the family image.

According to posts Brooklyn made on his Instagram Story, he felt he had no choice but to speak out after seeing stories planted by his parents’ team in the press. “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”

He made it clear that he has no interest in reconciling at this time. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” Brooklyn said. His comments contradict the picture of a close-knit family presented in the 2023 Netflix docuseries Beckham, which showed David and Victoria praising the way they raised their children.

Brooklyn described growing up in a world where public image mattered more than genuine connection. “The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into,” he said. “My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first.” He alleged that his parents measured affection based on social media engagement and the willingness to pose for photo opportunities.

The tension also appears to involve Brooklyn’s wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, and their 2022 wedding. Brooklyn claimed his parents tried to undermine the event and continued targeting his relationship. “Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their women facade,” he said.

He also described a specific moment where he felt his mother refused to support his wife in a charitable effort. “But the one time my wife asked for my mum’s support to save displaced dogs during the L.A. fires, my mum refused,” Brooklyn claimed.

The eldest Beckham said stepping away from his family has helped his mental health. “I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared,” he shared. He emphasized that he and Nicola just want privacy and peace.

Brooklyn Beckham, 26, has pursued various creative paths over the years, including photography and a cooking show called Cookin’ with Brooklyn. He married actress Nicola Peltz in April 2022 in Palm Beach, Florida. Peltz is known for her roles in Bates Motel and Transformers: Age of Extinction and recently wrote, directed, and starred in the independent film Lola in 2024.

David Beckham remains a major figure in sports and culture as the president and co-owner of Inter Miami CF. Victoria Beckham continues to run her high-end fashion and beauty brand. The couple also has three other children, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper Seven, who have mostly stayed out of the public conflict.

Brooklyn’s accusations come after years of public admiration for the Beckham family, especially following the Netflix docuseries Beckham, which showed them as a tight-knit, supportive household. His comments suggest that the reality behind the cameras was far different from the polished image seen by the public.

The source of this story is Brooklyn Beckham’s own Instagram posts, where he detailed the issues he has faced with his parents and explained why he felt it was necessary to speak out.

Fans can weigh in on whether children of celebrities should prioritize the family brand or whether Brooklyn is justified in breaking away to protect his mental health.
