Rachel McAdams was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday, a moment many fans felt was long overdue. The Canadian actress received the recognition outside the iconic El Capitan Theatre, celebrating a career that has lasted over 20 years and includes both critical and commercial successes. According to People, the ceremony was emotional, and McAdams was especially touched by the presence of her family.

The Mean Girls star was joined by her longtime partner, screenwriter Jamie Linden, in one of their rare public appearances together. The couple, together since 2016, share a seven-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter. While the children were not present, their influence was evident in McAdams’ heartfelt speech. The pair appeared supportive and affectionate, with Linden cheering her on as she took the stage.

“To Jamie my North Star, Kayleen my other North Star,” McAdams said through tears, referring to both her partner and her sister. “Thank you for being such a great team. And keeping me quasi-normal.” Her words highlighted the importance of her family and the grounding force they provide amid her busy career.

The ceremony also featured speeches from colleagues who have worked closely with McAdams. Domhnall Gleeson, her co-star from the romantic drama About Time, praised her talent and dedication on set. Director Sam Raimi, who worked with McAdams on Doctor Strange and is directing her upcoming film Send Help, also spoke about her versatility and professionalism.

McAdams first gained worldwide attention in 2004 with two iconic roles. She became a pop culture sensation as Regina George in Mean Girls and showed her romantic lead potential in The Notebook as Allie Hamilton. She quickly proved she could handle a range of roles, shining in comedies like Wedding Crashers and dramas like The Time Traveler’s Wife. Her performance in Spotlight earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Recently, McAdams has enjoyed a career renaissance. In 2023, she received critical acclaim for playing Margaret’s mother in Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, winning praise from critics and award circles. She also made her Broadway debut in 2024 with the play Mary Jane, delivering a performance that was emotionally intense and widely praised.

Her partner Jamie Linden is a successful screenwriter and director, known for films like We Are Marshall, Dear John, and 10 Years. The couple has kept their relationship private, making this rare public outing even more notable.

Looking ahead, McAdams will star in Send Help, a horror-thriller described as a mix between Misery and Cast Away. The project reunites her with Sam Raimi and promises to challenge her both physically and emotionally.
