New details regarding the legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have revealed a stunning behind-the-scenes clash involving a high-ranking studio executive. During a deposition unsealed on Tuesday, a Sony Pictures executive admitted to referring to Lively as a “f**** terrorist” during the tumultuous production of the 2024 hit film, It Ends With Us. The comment was made by Giannetti, an executive vice president of production, as tensions reached a breaking point on set.

Giannetti confirmed the inflammatory remark during her testimony given in September 2025. When asked if she made the comment to Wayfarer Studios CEO Jamey Heath, Giannetti replied, “Yes.” The executive explained that the insult was born out of frustration after learning that Lively, 38, had threatened to walk away from the film entirely unless a specific list of demands was immediately met.

The stakes for the studio were incredibly high at the time of the dispute. Giannetti testified that Sony Pictures had already poured “a tremendous amount of money” into the adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel. She noted that because of the financial exposure, she felt the studio “had to finish … or it was unreleasable,” placing immense pressure on the production team to capitulate to the lead actress’s ultimatum.

Lively’s list of stipulations was extensive and focused on maintaining a comfortable and professional environment during vulnerable scenes. The demands included a strict ban on improvised intimate scenes and the prohibition of discussions regarding p***** or se**** experiences. Furthermore, the actress demanded that no comments be made regarding her body, weight, or personal life, and she requested that discussions of genitalia be barred from the set.

Baldoni, 41, and Heath ultimately agreed to these terms to keep the production afloat. However, Lively’s lawsuit, filed in December 2024, alleges that this agreement marked the beginning of a retaliatory effort. She claims that after acceding to her demands, Baldoni and the Wayfarer team launched a coordinated smear campaign designed to destroy her reputation within the industry.

Despite the animosity described in the deposition, Giannetti sent Lively a glowing text message following the movie’s massive financial success. The text read, “Blake, $50 million!! Your blood, sweat, tears, brilliant smarts, heart and soul in every single frame. My God, it’s incredible. Thank you 50 million times. And it’s only Saturday night.” During her testimony, the executive clarified that her praise was strictly referencing the film’s “gigantic” box office numbers rather than Lively’s personal conduct.

Giannetti also testified that she did not recall Lively ever verbally confirming that Baldoni or Heath had done anything specific to make her uncomfortable prior to the threat of quitting. Baldoni has steadfastly denied all allegations of s***** harassment and retaliation. In November 2025, he formally requested that the judge dismiss the suit, arguing that the claims were baseless.

The presiding judge is expected to issue a ruling on Thursday regarding the summary judgment hearing. This decision will determine whether Lively’s claims will be thrown out or if the case will proceed to a high-profile trial currently scheduled for May 2026.

It Ends With Us, released in August 2024, was a commercial juggernaut, grossing over $300 million globally despite the rumored on-set friction. The film is based on Colleen Hoover’s 2016 bestselling novel, which follows a florist named Lily Bloom who falls for a neurosurgeon with a dark side. The movie deals with heavy themes of domestic violence and emotional abuse, topics that reportedly added to the intensity and stress of the filming process.

Blake Lively first rose to international fame for her role as Serena van der Woodsen in the CW drama Gossip Girl, which ran from 2007 to 2012. Over the years, she has transitioned into a successful film career with roles in The Age of Adaline, The Shallows, and the thriller A Simple Favor. Beyond acting, she has made a name for herself as a director, helming the music video for Taylor Swift’s “I Bet You Think About Me,” which earned her an Academy of Country Music Award nomination.

Justin Baldoni is best known to audiences for his portrayal of Rafael Solano in the satirical romantic dramedy Jane the Virgin. In recent years, he has pivoted heavily toward directing and producing through his company, Wayfarer Studios. His directorial portfolio includes the tear-jerker Five Feet Apart and the Disney+ film Clouds. He has also been an outspoken advocate for redefining masculinity, having written the book Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity.

The public fallout between the two stars began noticeably during the film’s press tour, where they were rarely seen together. Lively promoted the film largely on her own or with other cast members, while Baldoni conducted separate interviews. This separation fueled early internet speculation of a feud long before the legal battles began.

If the case proceeds to trial in May 2026, it promises to be one of the most scrutinized celebrity legal battles in recent Hollywood history. Both parties have significant reputations at stake, and the outcome could reshape how on-set conflicts and creative control are managed in major studio productions.

We want to know if you think the studio executive’s harsh language was justified by the pressure of the situation or if it crossed a line, so please share your thoughts in the comments.
