Demi Moore and Keke Palmer are drawing attention with the first trailer for I Love Boosters, the new film from writer and director Boots Riley. The movie is set to premiere at the SXSW Film and Television Festival in Austin and will hit theaters on May 22, released by Neon.

The film also stars Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, LaKeith Stanfield, Will Poulter, and Don Cheadle. In the story, Palmer plays Corvette, a bold leader of a group of women who target a wealthy fashion designer, played by Moore. Their plan is to steal clothes from her stores and sell them at lower prices.

The trailer gives a glimpse of the characters’ energy and attitude. Palmer’s Corvette says, “I shop here a lot, and I feel like I should have it all. I just want to take it all home, heat it up and shoot it out my eyes. I just feel like, ‘Give it to me. It’s mine anyway.’” Moore’s character fires back with sharp humor: “They take my shit and sell it because they’re low-class urban bitches — with all due respect to urban bitches.”

Boots Riley, who directed Sorry to Bother You and created the Prime Video series I’m a Virgo, wrote and directed this film as well. Producers include Aaron Ryder, Andrew Swet, Allison Rose Carter, and Jon Read.

I Love Boosters was chosen as the opening night film for SXSW, where Claudette Godfrey, the festival’s VP of film and TV, praised Riley’s work, calling it “another wildly original and boundary-pushing vision that’s deliciously unpredictable.”

The trailer highlights the film’s mix of fashion, crime, and dark humor, with both Moore and Palmer delivering performances full of energy. Their dynamic makes it clear that I Love Boosters will be an exciting and unconventional story, giving viewers a lot to look forward to.

This film looks bold and stylish, and Boots Riley continues to prove he can create unpredictable and thought-provoking stories. Moore and Palmer seem to have a great on-screen energy that could make this one of the year’s most talked-about films. Are you looking forward to seeing this fashion crime story unfold?
