Dark, Dramatic, and Dangerous – Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi Turn the “Wuthering Heights” Premiere Into Pure Gothic Chaos
The Los Angeles premiere of Wuthering Heights turned into a full gothic moment, with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi leaning hard into dark romance on the red carpet. The film, a new take on Emily Brontë’s classic novel, is still months away from release, but its stars are already setting the mood.
The world premiere took place on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the TCL Chinese Theatre. According to red carpet coverage, the event was styled to reflect the dark and emotional tone of the movie. Robbie and Elordi arrived in coordinated looks that stood out against the white backdrop and immediately grabbed attention.
Robbie, 35, wore a tight Schiaparelli gown with a nude lace top and a dramatic black-and-red train that flowed behind her. The dress was bold, but it was her jewelry that became the main talking point. She wore the famous Cartier Taj Mahal necklace, a historic piece once owned by Elizabeth Taylor.

The necklace was a gift from Richard Burton to Taylor in 1972 for her 40th birthday. During a red carpet interview, Robbie said she and her stylist Andrew Mukamal wanted the look to feel meaningful. She explained that the history of the necklace made it intentional and appropriate for the gothic feel of the film. She paired it with custom Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings and a large diamond ring.

Elordi, 28, went in the opposite direction style-wise but kept the drama alive. He wore an all-black suit with black shoes, creating a sharp contrast and matching the dark energy of the night.
The two actors play Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, one of literature’s most intense and troubled love stories. The film is directed by Emerald Fennell, who previously worked with Elordi on Saltburn. Fennell has described the movie as steamy and electric, promising a bold new version of the 1847 novel.

The movie was filmed in Yorkshire, where the original story is set. That time together seems to have brought the actors close. In an interview with Vogue Australia, Robbie and Elordi spoke about their bond on set and shared a Valentine’s Day moment that surprised fans.
We were shooting on Valentine’s Day. You made my day and, as Heathcliff, filled my room with roses, Robbie said. She added that Elordi also left a note written as Heathcliff and even included a small fake tombstone as part of the gesture.
Robbie admitted she didn’t do anything as big for him. Elordi joked, I felt like I beat you. Robbie agreed and replied, You definitely beat me. Yours was so epic. I remember thinking on Valentine’s Day, oh he’s probably a very good boyfriend, ’cause there’s a lot of thoughtfulness in this.
Wuthering Heights is set to hit theaters on Feb. 13, just before Valentine’s Day. The cast also includes Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, and Alison Oliver. The soundtrack will feature original music by Charli XCX, adding another modern touch to the classic story.
Both stars are staying busy outside of this film. Robbie is producing several big projects through LuckyChap Entertainment, including movies based on The Sims and Monopoly. Elordi has a packed schedule as well, with a role in Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, and the upcoming third season of Euphoria.
This film is the third feature from Emerald Fennell, who has said her version of Wuthering Heights is illicit and very personal. With its dramatic premiere now over, the movie is already sparking debate online.
Whether audiences see Robbie and Elordi as the perfect Catherine and Heathcliff or not, one thing is clear. This version of Wuthering Heights is not trying to play it safe, and people are already talking.
