50 Cent Names His Favorite Movie Ever and Fans Might Be Surprised
Nearly two decades have passed since 50 Cent made his cinematic debut in the semi-autobiographical Get Rich or Die Tryin’, a move that kicked off a prolific second career in Hollywood. Since then, the rapper has appeared in 28 feature films, establishing himself as a fixture in gritty action thrillers and intense dramas.
Given his tough-guy persona and recent venture into the world of horror with the 2025 release Skillhouse, many would expect his cinematic tastes to lean toward the dark or the violent.
However, the man born Curtis Jackson recently revealed that his absolute favorite film is actually a lighthearted 1990s stoner comedy. When asked to name his top cinematic pick in the book You Gotta See This, he admitted that he is easily entertained while traveling. He shared just gimme a DVD player and a great movie and I’m happy, but if forced to choose just one, he would pick the 1995 classic Friday.
The rapper explained that the movie has a permanent spot in his rotation because of its pure rewatchability. He noted that I could watch it anytime and emphasized that the film never fails to make him laugh, no matter how many times he has seen it. This cult classic, directed by F. Gary Gray, famously stars Ice Cube and Chris Tucker as two friends navigating a chaotic day in South Central Los Angeles.
The chemistry between the two leads is what truly resonates with the Power creator. He expressed a particular fondness for how the duo manages to stumble into and out of constant trouble throughout their afternoon. He remarked that it cracks me up to watch them interact, highlighting the organic humor that has made the film a staple of American comedy.
While the original film launched a successful franchise, the rapper remains loyal to the first installment. He pointed out that while he respects the later sequels, they missed the unique spark provided by the original pairing. He specifically praised Chris Tucker’s performance, stating that Chris Tucker is my man and describing him as an incredible comedian whose facial expressions alone are enough to start him laughing.
As 50 Cent moves through 2026, he is firmly established as a television and film mogul with dozens of projects currently in development. He recently executive-produced the gritty Chicago-set crime drama Moses the Black, which arrives in theaters on January 30, 2026, starring Omar Epps and Wiz Khalifa. He also made waves as an executive producer for the Netflix documentary series Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which examined recent legal allegations in the music industry.
On the acting front, fans are eagerly awaiting his appearance in the live-action Street Fighter movie, scheduled for release on October 16, 2026. In this high-budget reboot, he is set to play the powerhouse boxer Balrog, starring alongside Jason Momoa and Noah Centineo. This role marks a return to the large-scale action genre where he first found his footing as a performer.
