Zac Efron’s name came up unexpectedly this week during the federal s** trafficking trial of the Alexander brothers in Manhattan. The case involves Tal, Oren, and Alon Alexander, who are accused of using their wealth and connections to lure women into abusive situations. While Efron’s name was mentioned in connection to a 2012 event, a witness clarified that the actor is not accused of any wrongdoing.

The witness, who used the name Katie Moore, described being invited to Efron’s New York City apartment to watch the NBA Finals with Tal Alexander and a friend. What she expected to be a fun celebrity experience, she said, turned into a frightening situation after the group moved to a nightclub and she was allegedly drugged.

Moore testified that she later woke up naked in a separate apartment with Alon Alexander. “I don’t want to have s** with you,” she told the court, claiming he responded, “You already did,” before allegedly assaulting her again. She stressed that her allegations involve only the Alexander brothers and that she had very little contact with Efron that night.

The Alexander brothers have pleaded not guilty to all charges, including conspiracy and sex trafficking by force or coercion. Assistant U.S. Attorney Madison Smyser told the court the brothers “masqueraded as party boys when really they were predators,” taking advantage of their social and celebrity connections. Defense attorneys have called the accusations a “monstrous story,” saying the encounters were consensual.

Despite his name appearing in court, Efron’s professional work continues without interruption. In 2026, he has several high-profile projects lined up. These include the thriller Famous, in which he plays a Hollywood star and his obsessive lookalike fan, and the courtroom comedy Judgment Day with Will Ferrell, directed by Nicholas Stoller. He is also attached to Disney’s Three Men and a Baby remake for streaming on Disney+.

Efron’s career has shifted toward more physical and dramatic roles in recent years, with notable performances like Kevin Von Erich in The Iron Claw. He also won a Daytime Emmy for his Netflix travel series Down to Earth with Zac Efron. Industry insiders note that while his name surfaced in a high-profile trial, it has not affected his public image or ongoing projects.

The trial is expected to continue for several weeks, with multiple witnesses testifying about alleged schemes dating back a decade. Efron’s representatives have not issued a formal comment about the court mentions.
