‘Scream’ Star Stuns Fans with Unrecognizable New Look While Out in LA
Jamie Kennedy has debuted a rugged new look that is a far cry from the video-store clerk who taught us all the rules of horror. The 55-year-old actor was recently spotted running errands in Los Angeles, sporting long wavy hair and a graying goatee that marks a significant departure from his clean-cut ’90s aesthetic.
While scooting along Sunset Boulevard, Kennedy appeared relaxed, accessorizing his casual Adidas zip-up and navy pants with a pair of bright blue sneakers and headphones resting atop a baseball cap.
The sighting comes at a particularly busy time for the comedian, who has been quietly expanding his real estate portfolio. This week, reports confirmed that Kennedy purchased a $3.1 million home in West Hollywood, suggesting he is doing quite well in his personal life even as he keeps a lower profile on the big screen.

Kennedy is, of course, a legend in the slasher genre for his role as the horror-obsessed Randy Meeks in the Scream franchise. His character’s “rules” for surviving a scary movie became a cornerstone of meta-horror, and despite his character’s demise in the second film, he has remained a vital part of the series through cameos and video messages.
As the franchise prepares for the release of Scream 7 on February 27, fans have been speculating about whether his character might appear in some capacity, especially with the return of legacy stars like Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox.
Beyond the world of Ghostface, Kennedy has been focusing heavily on his stand-up comedy.
Kennedy’s career has been one of constant reinvention, moving from his breakout role in 1996 to headlining his own hidden-camera prank show, The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, in the early 2000s. He later starred in cult favorites like Malibu’s Most Wanted and Son of the Mask, proving his versatility in both slapstick comedy and more grounded roles. Most recently, he took a dramatic turn in the film Roe v. Wade, where he portrayed Larry Lader, a role he defended as a rare opportunity to stretch his acting muscles beyond his comedic roots.
Despite his long list of credits, Kennedy often reflects on the luck and mentorship that started it all. He frequently credits late director Wes Craven for fighting to cast him in Scream when he was an unknown actor with no credits. Wes said: “Johnny Depp didn’t have any credits.” If he didn’t stick his neck out for me, you would not be talking to me today, Kennedy has shared of his origins.
