Kylie Jenner made sure all eyes were on her at the Los Angeles premiere of The Moment on January 29. Stepping onto the red carpet at the Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills, the 28-year-old mogul showcased a daring transformation of a Maison Margiela spring runway look.

The outfit paired a voluminous silk ball skirt with a ruffled halter top, leaving her core completely exposed to emphasize the dramatic silhouette. She kept her styling sleek and minimal, with her hair pulled back into a tight updo and only a few pieces of jewelry to let the bold fashion choice speak for itself. At the event, she posed for photographers alongside the film’s lead, Charli xcx, who leaned into a different aesthetic with a silver corset and leather hot pants.

The Moment, which arrives in theaters nationwide today, January 30, marks a significant creative milestone as an “autofictional” mockumentary that satirizes the music industry. The film follows a fictionalized version of Charli xcx as she navigates the intense pressures of fame and the commercialization of her brand while preparing for a major tour. Jenner’s appearance in the film as a version of herself was a highlight of the production, with director Aidan Zamiri noting that she was incredible in her acting debut.

While Jenner’s partner, Timothée Chalamet, was noticeably absent from the Los Angeles premiere, his absence was purely professional. The actor was in New York City promoting his latest project, Marty Supreme, which has solidified his status as a Hollywood powerhouse this season. Chalamet recently earned his third Best Actor Oscar nomination and took home a Golden Globe for his performance in the film just weeks ago.

Despite their separate schedules this week, the couple has been a fixture of this year’s award circuit, making high-profile appearances together at both the Critics’ Choice Awards and the Golden Globes. For those ceremonies, Jenner continued her streak of high-fashion wins, often sharing her custom looks with her millions of followers on social media before hitting the carpet.

Charli xcx is currently at the center of a major cinematic pivot, with several high-profile projects set for release throughout the year. Following The Moment, she is set to star in the upcoming art-world satire The Gallerist, which stars Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega.

As A24 rolls out The Moment to a wider audience this February, the film is expected to be a major conversation starter regarding the intersection of art and capitalism. With a score composed by A.G. Cook and a cast filled with indie darlings, it represents the new wave of “meta” storytelling in the mid-2020s.

Do you think the “mockumentary” style is the best way for pop stars to tell their stories, or should they stick to traditional documentaries? Share your thoughts in the comments.
