Claudia Jessie is opening up about her real life as fans dive into the latest season of Bridgerton. While her character Eloise is known for staying far away from romance, the actress says her life off screen looks very different.

Season four of the Netflix hit began rolling out on January 29, and viewers are once again watching the Bridgerton siblings fall in love. Eloise still stands out as the one sibling who has not had a romantic or intimate storyline. That contrast has sparked a lot of talk, and Jessie finally addressed it in a recent interview.

Speaking to the Associated Press with her co-stars Hannah Dodd and Luke Newton, Jessie joked about how different she is from her character. It’s funny though, she said, ’cause in real life I’m having more s** than both of them. She was laughing as she compared herself to the fictional characters played by her castmates.

Jessie has been in a relationship with casting director Cole Edwards since 2024. She shared that they actually met years ago when she first auditioned for Bridgerton. Get that, she said during the interview, pointing out how ironic it is that she plays a character who avoids marriage and romance.

The actress also talked about her career and how she has never filmed a sex scene before. I’ve managed to get to 36 years old without ever doing a s** scene, she said, adding that she sometimes wonders if she has been cast a certain way because of that.

Even so, Jessie knows that may not last forever. Fans of Julia Quinn’s books already know that Eloise does eventually get a love story.

If the show follows that path, Jessie could be stepping into more intimate scenes in future seasons. She admitted the idea makes her nervous. It does feel a little bit like I have agreed to jump out of a plane in a bit with close-ups in the nude and in front of my mum, she said.

Away from the show, Jessie says she has nothing in common with Eloise’s fancy wardrobe. At the season four premiere in Paris, she made it clear that corsets are only for filming. I feel like in our real life, have we started wearing corsets or been inspired by it in our real life? I’ve got to be honest. I want to get straight into a tracksuit as soon as I’m done, she told reporters.

Outside of Bridgerton, Jessie has been busy with other projects. She recently appeared in the Netflix series Toxic Town and has more film and voice work lined up. Still, much of the focus remains on what is next for Eloise as Bridgerton season four continues, with the second half set to arrive on February 26.

Jessie’s honesty is refreshing. It’s rare to hear actors speak so openly, especially when their on-screen roles are so different from real life. Whether Eloise ends up single or in love, the character feels more real because of Jessie’s openness. What do you think? Should Eloise stay independent, or are you ready to see her romance play out?
