Masterpiece Crime Series Everyone’s Talking About Lands on Netflix with Six Seasons
Fans of dark crime stories are in for a treat as a show that many people call a masterpiece has finally arrived on Netflix. The hit series Animal Kingdom was added to the streaming service today, February 3. This means all six seasons of the intense drama are now available for subscribers to binge-watch at their own pace.
The story follows a teenager named Joshua, who is also called J, after his life changes forever. When his mother dies from a drug overdose, he has to move in with his relatives in a beach town in Southern California. He hasn’t seen this part of his family for a long time, and he quickly finds out why his mother kept him away.
J’s grandmother, Janine Cody, is the leader of the family and goes by the name Smurf. She runs a criminal empire with her sons, who spend their time planning and carrying out dangerous armed robberies. J has to figure out how to survive in this world of crime while dealing with the strange and controlling love Smurf has for her boys.
The show originally started in 2016 and finished its run in 2022. It is based on a famous Australian movie with the same name. That movie was written and directed by David Michôd, who has stayed very active in Hollywood. He most recently directed the sports biopic Christy, which stars Sydney Sweeney and was released in theaters late last year.
