The event, among other things, was held to announce the premiere date and first teaser for Taylor-Joy’s upcoming series, Lucky, which she also executive produces. The show is set to debut globally on Wednesday, July 15. This marks her first major leading role on television since her breakout performance in The Queen’s Gambit in 2020.

The series is backed by a strong creative team. Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter also executive produce through Hello Sunshine, alongside Taylor-Joy through her production company, LadyKiller. The pilot was directed by Jonathan van Tulleken, who also holds an executive producer credit.
Lucky features a notable cast including Timothy Olyphant as Lucky’s father and mentor, Annette Bening as a dangerous mob leader named Priscilla, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor as Agent Billie Rand, the investigator chasing Lucky. Drew Starkey appears as Lucky’s husband, Cary.
Taylor-Joy has had a busy few years and continues to build her career. In 2025, she starred in the sci-fi action thriller The Gorge with Miles Teller, which also streamed on Apple TV.
Looking ahead, Taylor-Joy has several high-profile projects on the horizon. She will return as the voice of Princess Peach in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and reprise her role as Alia Atreides in Dune: Part Three.
