Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are proving that the moors of Yorkshire have never looked quite this glamorous. As the highly anticipated release of Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights approaches, the Australian duo arrived at the London premiere on Thursday, February 5, delivering a masterclass in high-fashion storytelling.

The stars have maintained an impeccable sartorial streak throughout their global press tour, previously stunning audiences in Paris and Los Angeles. For the UK premiere, they successfully bridged the gap between avant-garde modernism and the brooding, Victorian-inspired gothic aesthetic that defines their new film.

Robbie, an Oscar nominee and the film’s co-producer, opted for one of her most daring looks to date: an eye-catching naked dress that combined sheer elegance with a structural edge. Her choice echoed the provocative spirit of director Emerald Fennell, whose previous works like Saltburn and Promising Young Woman have built her a reputation for the beautifully bizarre.

Elordi, often hailed as the man of the moment, rose to his co-star’s fashion heights with a more restrained but equally powerful ensemble. He arrived in a soft beige palette, wearing a tailored shirt and trousers beneath a matching overcoat that highlighted his towering stature. A single dark tie provided a sharp contrast to the monochrome look.

The chemistry between the two leads has been a focal point of the film’s promotion, with fans eager to see their take on the legendary Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. Fennell’s adaptation is being marketed as a visceral, steamy reimagining of Emily Brontë’s 1847 masterpiece, complete with an original soundtrack featuring songs by Charli XCX.

Robbie has also spoken about the intense atmosphere on set, particularly during the filming of the moors’ most dramatic sequences. It’s so epic in nature, so incredibly romantic, and it really is this stunning world that makes you just want to be there, she remarked.

Aside from this gothic romance, Robbie remains one of the busiest figures in Hollywood through her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. She is currently developing several high-profile projects, including a live-action adaptation of the beloved video game franchise The Sims.

Jacob Elordi is equally occupied, with his star continuing to rise following his award-winning turn in Frankenstein. Later this year, he is set to star in Ridley Scott’s science fiction epic The Dog Stars, where he will play a survivor navigating a post-pandemic world alongside Margaret Qualley.

Wuthering Heights is scheduled for a wide theatrical release on February 13, perfectly timed for the Valentine’s Day weekend. The film features a stellar supporting cast including Hong Chau as Nelly Dean, Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton, and Ewan Mitchell, who recently gained fame in House of the Dragon.

With a budget of approximately $80 million and a fresh, contemporary lens, this iteration aims to captivate a new generation of viewers. The marketing has leaned heavily into the “greatest love story” angle, though Fennell promises that her version will retain the twisted, obsessive heart of the original novel.

Do you think Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are the right choice to bring Catherine and Heathcliff’s toxic romance to life for a modern audience in the comments?
