Kathryn Newton and Samara Weaving have sent fans into a frenzy after the two scream queens reunited for a night out. The pair shared a glimpse of their off-screen friendship through an adorable social media update that quickly gained traction. Newton posted the photo on Instagram with the sweet caption Sissy took me out, a nod to their upcoming roles as siblings.

The reunion comes as excitement builds for their collaboration on the big screen. While they have shared the screen once before in a minor capacity, this latest project marks their first significant outing together. Fans of the horror genre are particularly thrilled to see these two powerhouses finally joining forces in a leading capacity.

The “meat” of the story lies in the highly anticipated sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. This follow-up to the 2019 cult hit sees Samara Weaving returning as the resilient Grace MacCaullay. This time around, she isn’t fighting alone, as Kathryn Newton joins the cast as her estranged younger sister, Faith.

The plot picks up almost immediately after the explosive finale of the first film. Grace discovers that her survival was only the beginning of a much larger, more dangerous game. She must now protect her sister while navigating a lethal contest involving four rival families who are all vying for a seat on a mysterious global council.

The sequel features a star-studded ensemble that has horror enthusiasts counting down the days. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood have joined the cast, adding some serious genre pedigree to the production. The film also stars David Cronenberg, Shawn Hatosy, and Néstor Carbonell, making it one of the most packed casts of the year.

Directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known collectively as Radio Silence, are back at the helm. They are working from a script by the original film’s writers, Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. The team is promising a sequel that leans further into the action while maintaining the dark humor of the original.

Both actresses have been keeping busy with a string of successful projects leading up to this release. Kathryn Newton recently starred in the vampire thriller Abigail and the dark comedy Lisa Frankenstein. She also remains a fan favorite in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for her role as Cassie Lang in the Ant-Man franchise.

Samara Weaving has similarly solidified her status as a modern horror icon with roles in Scream VI and the survivalist thriller Azrael. She recently wrapped filming on Over Your Dead Body, an English-language remake of the Norwegian film The Trip. In that project, she stars alongside Jason Segel and Timothy Olyphant in a story about a couple with mutual plans to kill each other.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is scheduled to make its world premiere at the SXSW festival in mid-March. Following its festival debut, the movie will hit theaters nationwide on March 20. The promotional cycle is in full swing, with the latest trailer showcasing the intense chemistry between Newton and Weaving.
