Dirty Dancing Icon Jennifer Grey, 65, Shows off Stunning Swimsuit Look
Jennifer Grey recently gave her followers a glimpse into her personal life by posting several photos from a beach getaway with her longtime best friend, Tracy Pollan. The images, which quickly went viral, showed the two actresses enjoying some downtime and laughing like teenagers on the sand.
Grey’s relaxed and confident look in a simple black bikini and a one-piece swimsuit drew plenty of praise from fans and famous friends alike, with Jamie Lee Curtis even stopping by to show some support on the post.
The actress mentioned that the trip with Pollan was a long-overdue chance to catch up, noting that they giggled like we were back in high school. Their bond actually goes back decades to when they were students at the Dalton School in New York City.
While they have both navigated the highs and lows of Hollywood since then, it’s clear that their friendship has remained one of the most stable parts of their lives. Of course, any mention of Jennifer Grey inevitably brings up her most famous role as Frances “Baby” Houseman in the 1987 classic Dirty Dancing.
For years, fans have wondered if she would ever return to that world, and she finally gave a definitive answer recently. She confirmed that a sequel is officially in the works, and she will not only be starring in it but also serving as an executive producer to help protect the film’s legacy.
Grey admitted that it took quite a while to find the right creative team for the project because the role of Baby holds such a deep and meaningful place in her heart. She explained that she wanted to make sure the new story was in the hands of people who could be entrusted to build on the legacy of the original film.
While she is excited to revisit the character, she has also been very honest about the fact that no one can ever replace her original co-star, the late Patrick Swayze. Outside of her dancing days, Grey has a long history of memorable roles, including her turn as the frustrated sister in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
She also famously won a season of Dancing with the Stars, proving that she still has those iconic moves. Even though she faced a career slowdown after a nose job in the early 90s made her unrecognizable to many, she has worked hard to find her way back into meaningful projects, most recently earning praise for her work in the 2024 film A Real Pain.
As we head into mid-February, the buzz around the Dirty Dancing sequel is louder than ever. Lionsgate recently announced that production is officially scheduled to begin later this year, with a script penned by Kim Rosenstock and Jonathan Levine on board to executive produce.
Grey has been keeping fans updated on her progress, recently mentioning that she is focused on getting the details just right so the film can live up to the magic of the first one.
Do you think a sequel to Dirty Dancing can successfully capture the same feeling as the original without Patrick Swayze, or should the classic have been left as a standalone story? Share your thoughts in the comments.
