Amanda Seyfried turned heads at New York Fashion Week this week by adding a touch of early-2000s flair to the Tory Burch Fall/Winter 2026 show. The actress, who recently celebrated her 40th birthday, paired a colorful outfit with a small silver detail that stole the spotlight: her bellybutton piercing.

According to fashion coverage from the event, photographers couldn’t get enough of the flash of metal, which Seyfried made sure was on full display.

The piercing isn’t a new trend for the actress. “I never got rid of it. I’ve had it since I was 17,” she told reporters. She shared that it survived two pregnancies, adding with a laugh, “I took it out when I was pregnant both times, put it straight back in.” She explained that although she usually keeps it hidden, “nobody really ever sees it, but it’s always there.”

For the show, Seyfried styled the piercing with a gold collared shirt buttoned to reveal just enough skin. She paired it with a Cornelia blue embellished skirt and patterned heels, while berry lipstick and dangling gold earrings completed the bold look. The combination of color blocking and subtle nostalgia made the outfit memorable, proving that some style choices never go out of fashion.

Seyfried is not alone in reviving navel piercings for the spotlight. Stars like Megan Thee Stallion and Kim Kardashian have recently embraced similar Y2K-era jewelry on carpets and social media, according to style reports.

Outside of fashion, Seyfried is thriving professionally. She stars in the historical musical drama The Testament of Ann Lee, directed by Mona Fastvold, where she plays the founder of the Shakers. The film already earned her recognition at the Astra Film Awards.

The cast also includes Thomasin McKenzie, Lewis Pullman, and Christopher Abbott. Seyfried has called the role life-changing, joking about the difficult Manchester accent she had to master during a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show.

She is also appearing in the psychological thriller The Housemaid on Prime Video with Sydney Sweeney, playing the mysterious Nina Winchester. Fans are excited about her upcoming return to the crime genre in the Peacock series Long Bright River, where she portrays a police officer searching for her missing sister. There’s also ongoing buzz about a potential third Mamma Mia! film, which Seyfried says she would join if the script is right.

Between her award-winning acting and her bold embrace of Y2K fashion, Amanda Seyfried continues to stand out as both a style icon and a versatile performer.

Would you ever consider bringing back a teenage piercing for a high-fashion moment, or are some trends better left in the past? Share your thoughts on this nostalgic style choice in the comments.
