Teyana Taylor commanded the red carpet at the 28th Costume Designers Guild Awards, radiating confidence in a look that blended high-fashion drama with meticulous couture. The multi-hyphenate star chose a vibrant red backless gown by Tamara Ralph, a standout piece from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection.

The ensemble’s structured halter neck led into a glossy, lacquered bodice that appeared almost like a sculpted work of art against her silhouette. This bold upper construction stood in striking contrast to the fluid silk skirt, which draped softly at her waist before cascading into a sophisticated train that followed her every step.

Taylor chose to keep her styling refined and sleek, wearing her shoulder-length hair open with the ends flipped outward and a precise middle part. By opting for minimal accessories, she ensured that the architectural details of the gown remained the primary focus of her appearance.

The evening was particularly significant as Taylor was one of the ceremony’s guest honorees, receiving the prestigious Vanguard Spotlight Award. The star-studded event, held on February 12 at the Ebell of Los Angeles, also featured appearances from other industry luminaries like Kate Hudson, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Upon accepting her award, Taylor reflected on her deep connection to the craft, stating that before a character ever speaks, what they wear is already telling you who they are. This recognition comes during a career-defining awards season for Taylor, who recently secured a Golden Globe for her performance in the Paul Thomas Anderson film One Battle After Another.

In the critically acclaimed epic, she portrays Perfidia Beverly Hills alongside a powerhouse cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn. Her work in the film has also earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the upcoming Academy Awards, solidifying her transition from R&B sensation to a formidable dramatic actress.

Looking ahead, Taylor’s schedule for the year is packed with several high-profile creative ventures across multiple media. She is currently preparing to make her feature film directorial debut with Get Lite, a project starring Storm Reid that focuses on the New York footwork dance scene.

Additionally, she is set to star as Detective Numa Baptiste in the upcoming crime thriller The Rip, appearing alongside Hollywood veterans Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. On the small screen, she recently joined the main cast of Ryan Murphy’s legal drama All’s Fair, where she plays a young legal assistant named Milan.

The Hulu series features an ensemble cast of heavy hitters, including Kim Kardashian and Glenn Close. Despite her heavy acting workload, she hasn’t abandoned her musical roots; her latest visual album, Escape Room, has garnered critical praise and a 2026 Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album.
