Anne Hathaway is embracing a bold new chapter in her career, both on-screen and in fashion. In a recent interview with WWD Weekend, she opened up about how photoshoots and the spotlight used to feel intimidating. Photoshoots used to terrify me, she admitted, reflecting on her early fears of public failure.

Hathaway explained that she used to be very cautious about her public image. I was always so scared about how I was going to fail, she said. Over time, she has learned to see the people behind the glamour as real, creative individuals who care about each other. Genuine humanity exists within fashion. I appreciate that so much more now, partially because I know so many more people in it, she shared.

This new perspective has allowed Hathaway to feel at ease working with brands like Versace and Bulgari. I’m someone who’s slow to open — I’m getting much, much, much better at it, she said, describing her approach to transparency in both fashion and life.

Her focus on authenticity comes as Hathaway prepares for a massive 2026 slate. She stars in the A24 thriller Mother Mary, playing a superstar whose life spirals into chaos. She also reprises her role as Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada 2 and appears in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, the sci-fi thriller Flowervale Street opposite Ewan McGregor, and the Colleen Hoover adaptation Verity.

Hathaway’s career now balances major acting projects with global fashion campaigns. She recently appeared alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas in Bulgari’s 2026 Serpenti campaign. She attributes this growth to understanding the fashion industry on a deeper, more human level. When I arrived at that place in a more meaningful way in my life, that was when it opened up for me in terms of a tangible relationship in fashion, she said.

By overcoming her fear of failure, Hathaway has transformed her public image from one of cautious elegance to one of confident boldness. Her combination of authenticity, artistic risk, and hard work is shaping what many see as her most prolific era yet.

Hathaway’s journey shows how even the biggest stars can grow and reinvent themselves. She now approaches both acting and fashion with confidence and curiosity, making 2026 a year to watch. Which of her upcoming projects are you most excited about? Share your thoughts in the comments.
