Shakira is proving that her influence goes far beyond music. The Colombian superstar recently wrapped up a historic five-night residency in San Salvador, leaving both fans and local officials stunned.

According to her Instagram, she thanked the region with a heartfelt message: “Thank you to the Salvadorans for welcoming us with open arms and thank you, Central America, for these five nights that we will never forget.” The actress uploaded a gallery of photoes including a sizzling photo in a red outfit that perfectly showed of her toned physique.

The shows didn’t just sell out—they transformed the local economy. While officials initially predicted a $55 million boost, the residency ended up generating an estimated $110 million for El Salvador. Over 144,000 fans attended the concerts at Estadio Nacional Jorge “Mágico” González, with nearly half coming from abroad. Hotels, restaurants, and transport services saw massive activity, creating more than 11,000 jobs in total.

This residency is part of her ongoing tour supporting her twelfth studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which has already grossed over $327 million worldwide. Industry analysts are calling it the highest-grossing Latin tour by a female artist in history.

Shakira’s success hasn’t stopped at the stage. She recently returned to the Disney universe, reprising her role as Gazelle in Zootopia 2 and releasing the song “Zoo” with Ed Sheeran and Blake Slatkin. Fans are also buzzing over rumors that she is working on a new anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following in the footsteps of her global hit Waka Waka.

The singer is also continuing her philanthropic work. Through her Pies Descalzos Foundation, she recently teamed up with Hard Rock International to support a women’s empowerment project in Colombia, raising funds for education in vulnerable communities.

At 49, Shakira maintains her dominance in both music and culture, keeping over 70 million monthly listeners on Spotify while balancing global stardom and humanitarian projects. Her tour will continue in Mexico before heading to Abu Dhabi, proving that the “Shakira effect” is real. The San Salvador shows are likely to be remembered for years, both for the energy she brought to the stage and the economic boost for the city.

“Music has the power to unite and to grow economies,” a local official told reporters, emphasizing just how far-reaching her influence can be. A documentary about the tour is rumored to be in production, promising fans a closer look at the superstar behind the phenomenon.

Shakira has shown that a single artist can impact culture, music, and even national economies all at once. Do you think she should be the one to perform the official anthem for the 2026 World Cup? Share your thoughts in the comments.
