Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams have taken a big step in their relationship. The pair appeared together on the red carpet at the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards in London. It was their first major public event as a couple after more than a year of dating.

The awards took place at the Royal Festival Hall. Photos from Getty Images show them arriving side by side and smiling at photographers. They looked relaxed and happy as they posed together before heading inside.

Mescal chose a simple black tuxedo jacket with a white shirt. Abrams wore a fitted black gown with detailed embellishment across the fabric. The dress also had blue sparkle around the neckline and sleeves. She added silver drop earrings and styled her short hair in a sleek look. Many fans online said she stood out on the carpet.

The night was important for Mescal’s career as well. He is nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the British Academy Film Awards for his role as William Shakespeare in Hamnet. His co-star Jessie Buckley is nominated for Best Actress.

Buckley’s nomination has created strong interest in Ireland. If she wins, she will become the first Irish performer to win Best Actress at the BAFTAs. She has already had success this season, including wins at the Golden Globes and the IFTAs.

Irish actors have seen major success at the BAFTAs in recent years. Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon won supporting acting awards in 2023 for The Banshees of Inisherin. In 2024, Cillian Murphy won Best Actor for Oppenheimer. A win for Buckley would mean Ireland has now won in all four main acting categories at the BAFTAs.

For Mescal and Abrams, the night was about more than awards. Their appearance confirmed their relationship in a very public way. They looked comfortable and confident together. It feels like a natural step for them. What do you think about their red carpet debut and Ireland’s strong run at the BAFTAs? Share your thoughts in the comments.
