Murphy has a strong connection to the BAFTAs, having won an award for his performance in Oppenheimer in 2024. While he did not receive a nomination this year, he is featured in the film Steve, which is up for Outstanding British Film. He also has a long history with BAFTA, including a 2007 Rising Star nomination and a nod in 2023 for Peaky Blinders.
Fans of Murphy have more to look forward to, as he will return to the world of Tommy Shelby in the upcoming film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, set to release on March 6. Speaking to The Observer about his return, Murphy said, “We got a really good script, and I have a sense of duty to the fans because, in many ways, they made the show the success that it is. It’s a proper bookend to the whole 36 hours of television.”
Peaky Blinders originally ran for six seasons, tracing Tommy Shelby’s rise from a small-time gangster after World War I to a powerful businessman and politician. The upcoming film will serve as the conclusion to the story, giving fans closure on the beloved series.
On the night of the BAFTAs, Murphy’s elegant and understated look proved that his red carpet style is as memorable as his performances. His presence reminded audiences why he is one of the most respected actors in Hollywood.
Cillian Murphy continues to show that true style doesn’t need to be over-the-top. His choice of a clean, classic suit emphasizes confidence and sophistication. What do you think about Murphy’s red carpet look at the BAFTAs this year? Share your thoughts in the comments.
