Dakota Johnson Dazzles in Black & White for Flaunt Magazine Throwback
Dakota Johnson recently reminded fans why she is one of Hollywood’s most captivating stars with a black-and-white shoot for Flaunt Magazine, captured by Su Müstecaplıoğlu. The throwback images have been widely shared on social media, showing Johnson in a 1960s-inspired, Jane Birkin-esque style. The portraits are simple yet striking, highlighting her ability to make even the smallest gesture feel powerful and intimate.
In the accompanying interview, Johnson opened up about her creative approach and how everyday life inspires her work. Everything is always informing everything for me. I get inspired by the tree outside and also the movies I’m watching or things I see, she said. I’m always going into, like, weird wormholes, finding new things, but that’s kind of how I work anyway.
Johnson has built a career marked by variety and depth. She recently starred in the romantic comedy Splitsville, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and received strong reviews for its humor and charm. She also produced the film under her TeaTime Pictures banner. Most of the time, I really love acting, sometimes I really hate it, Johnson admitted. And that goes for everything, I think. But I also think that’s part of my process as an artist.
On the indie film side, Johnson earned acclaim for Materialists, directed by Celine Song. In the movie, she plays a New York City matchmaker caught in a tense love triangle with characters played by Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. The film became a surprise hit, grossing over $100 million and earning her a Best Actress nod at the Astra Midseason Movie Awards.
Johnson is also filming the psychological thriller Verity, adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. Directed by Michael Showalter, she will play a struggling writer uncovering dark secrets while working for a famous author played by Anne Hathaway. The movie is expected to be a major cinematic release in the coming year.
Even outside film, Johnson remains a fashion figure, attending the Valentino 2026 Spring Couture show and the Calvin Klein fall/winter 2026 presentation. Her public life has taken on a freer tone following her split from Chris Martin in 2025, and she continues to balance high-profile projects with personal growth.
Whether leading indie films, starring in global hits, or creating striking magazine spreads, Dakota Johnson keeps proving that she is one of the most original and unpredictable talents in Hollywood today.
