Megan Thee Stallion Takes Broadway by Storm with Gender-Bending ‘Moulin Rouge’ Role
Megan Thee Stallion is set to make her Broadway debut this spring in the hit musical Moulin Rouge!, bringing a fresh twist to the iconic role of Zidler. The three-time Grammy winner and actress will play the nightclub impresario, a part previously known as Harold Zidler, for an eight-week run from March 24, to May 17, according to Broadway producers.
The show’s pop-filled score will also include “a hint of music” from Megan’s own catalogue, featuring hits like Savage and HISS. She takes over the role from Bob the Drag Queen, and her casting marks the first time a female-identifying performer has played Zidler, a role originally performed by Tony Award winner Danny Burstein.
While this is Megan Thee Stallion’s first time on Broadway, she is no stranger to acting. She has appeared in the A24 film Dicks: The Musical and starred in STARZ’s P-Valley and Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
“Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor,” Megan said. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace. Moulin Rouge! is approaching the end of its Broadway run, with its final performance scheduled for July 26, 2026. Producer Carmen Pavlovic called Megan’s casting “a thrilling moment” for the production.
