Rose Byrne continues to dominate the red carpet with a fashion streak that has become the talk of the awards circuit. Following her vibrant appearances in neon Chanel at the Golden Globes and shimmering Miu Miu at the BAFTAs, the Australian actress opted for a more ethereal aesthetic at the 32nd Actor Awards on Sunday, March 1.

Byrne arrived at the Shrine Auditorium in a sophisticated ecru embroidered silk crepe gown from the Chanel Métiers d’art collection, a look she polished with Messika jewelry and elegant Gianvito Rossi sandals.

Appearing solo without her husband, Bobby Cannavale, the actress looked both comfortable and radiant. She recently shared her philosophy on red-carpet dressing with Vogue, noting that a successful look requires a balance of practicality and whimsy.

A red-carpet dress has to be flattering, because you have to feel comfortable in the public eye, but it should also be fun – you can’t take clothes too seriously, she explained while preparing for the event. The evening was a significant professional milestone for Byrne, as it marked her first individual nomination at the Actor Awards in over a decade.

She was recognized for her haunting performance in the A24 drama If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, in which she plays Linda, a psychotherapist struggling to care for a daughter with a life-threatening feeding disorder. I feel very grateful, she said of the recognition. I feel very honored. And it’s surreal. It’s a small movie, and it’s a challenging film, so it feels extra magical.

The role has been a transformative one for Byrne, who has already secured a Golden Globe and a Film Independent Spirit Award for the performance this year. Despite the acclaim, she admitted that she has long since stopped trying to guess how the industry will respond to her work.

I’ve given up long ago trying to predict what will or won’t be seen or acknowledged, she shared. I simply can’t crack the code. So having this happen is an experience. While Byrne did not take home the Actor Award—with the prize for Female Actor in a Leading Role going to Jessie Buckley for Hamnet—her presence solidified her as a top contender for the upcoming Academy Awards on March 15.

The film, directed by Mary Bronstein, features an eclectic ensemble cast including Conan O’Brien, Christian Slater, and A$AP Rocky. It has been widely praised for its raw, “excruciating” portrayal of maternal burnout and parental grief.

Beyond her current awards run, Byrne is keeping up an incredibly busy professional pace. She is set to return to Apple TV+ for the third season of her hit series Platonic later this year, alongside Seth Rogen.

Additionally, she wrapped production on the film Tow, where she plays a woman fighting the system after her car is towed, and is scheduled to star in the Peacock thriller series The Good Daughter in May.

Fans of the actress also have a theatrical treat to look forward to, as she is slated to appear in a Broadway production of Noël Coward’s Fallen Angels following the conclusion of the film season.

Between her critically acclaimed dramatic turns and her upcoming return to comedy and the stage, Byrne’s “magic” year shows no signs of slowing down. Her latest Chanel-clad appearance serves as a fitting celebration of a career that continues to reach new heights.
