At the 32nd Annual Actor Awards on March 1, Ethan Hawke stepped onto the red carpet in Los Angeles with a look that broke away from the usual formal style. Instead of a classic tuxedo, he chose a Dior outfit created by designer Jonathan Anderson. The look included a structured vest paired with a loose shirt, fitting the night’s theme, “Reimagining Hollywood Glamour.”

His appearance came as he celebrated a major nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. Hawke earned this recognition for playing songwriter Lorenz Hart in the drama Blue Moon, directed by Richard Linklater. The film recently reached a wide audience after its streaming release on Netflix.

Even though the award went to Michael B. Jordan for his role in Sinners, Hawke remained one of the most talked-about stars of the night. In an interview about the intense awards season, he reflected on his experience working on the film, saying, It is true that this last year is one of the hardest working years of my life.

Blue Moon marks another collaboration between Hawke and Linklater. Their creative partnership has lasted more than 30 years. The movie also features Margaret Qualley as his co-star.

Away from the awards buzz, Hawke continues to stay busy. His new film The Weight recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The project was produced by his wife, Ryan Hawke. He is also preparing for a future film with Linklater called Transcendentalism, where he will play writer Ralph Waldo Emerson alongside Natalie Portman and Oscar Isaac.

Fans have also seen him return to horror in Black Phone 2 and take on a lead role in the FX series The Lowdown. Beyond acting, Hawke has been directing theater projects and working on a new novel.

At 55, Hawke continues to take on very different kinds of work. His latest red carpet look and his performance in Blue Moon both show that he is still willing to experiment and grow.

It is refreshing to see a veteran actor still take risks in both fashion and film choices. Hawke clearly does not want to repeat himself. What do you think about his Dior look and his role in Blue Moon? Share your thoughts in the comments.
