Quentin Tarantino Death Rumors Go Viral on X Despite Director Being Alive
Quentin Tarantino is alive, according to sources close to the filmmaker who spoke with Deadline to debunk a wave of misinformation currently circulating on X. Over the last 24 hours, a viral post from an account with over 150,000 followers claimed that the director had been killed during an Iranian missile attack on Israel.
The post falsely cited Deadline as the source of the news, causing widespread confusion and concern among fans of the Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill creator. The hoax gained significant traction, with the original post receiving thousands of likes before being flagged.
Similar false reports also targeted comedian Jerry Seinfeld, claiming he had died in a nearly identical manner. There is absolutely no evidence to support these claims, and representatives for both stars have confirmed they are safe.
In addition to the text posts, several AI-generated images have appeared online, purportedly showing Tarantino taking cover in a bomb shelter in Israel. These images are fake, though they play on the fact that Tarantino has famously split his time between Los Angeles and Tel Aviv since marrying Israeli singer Daniella Pick in 2018.
The surge in toxic content has led to renewed calls for stricter social media regulations, as platforms like X continue to struggle with suppressing dangerous falsehoods during times of international conflict.
Tarantino has been making plenty of headlines lately for reasons that have nothing to do with internet rumors. After officially scrapping his long-gestating project, The Movie Critic in 2024, the director has shifted his focus toward other creative outlets.
I love this script, but I’m still walking down the same ground I’ve already walked, he said of his decision to move on from the project. He is currently working on a new West End play and is reportedly planning a temporary move to London to oversee its production.
While he may not be directing his tenth film just yet, his writing is still reaching the screen. A sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth, wrapped filming in January.
Directed by David Fincher and written by Tarantino, the film features Brad Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role and is scheduled for a Netflix release later this year. Tarantino described the $200 million project as being in uncharted territory, even if it revisits one of his most beloved characters.
Meanwhile, Jerry Seinfeld is also staying very active, proving that the rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated. The comedy icon is currently in the middle of a massive stand-up tour with dates scheduled through the fall.
He is also set to reunite with Larry David for a guest appearance in David’s upcoming, untitled HBO sketch comedy series, which is one of the most anticipated television events of the year. The safety of both men has been confirmed by multiple reputable outlets, and the false posts have been reported for removal.
