Olivia Wilde is making strong moves at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. She arrived in Park City with new work, new photos, and a busy schedule. The actor and director is part of one of the festival’s biggest premieres and is also featured in a fresh photo spread for Interview Magazine shot by Myles Pettengill. The pictures were taken outdoors during the festival and show a more relaxed and natural side of her.

The main reason Wilde is in Utah is the debut of her third film as a director, The Invite. The movie had its first screening at Sundance and quickly became one of the most talked-about titles. Industry reports say several companies competed to buy it before A24 secured the rights.

The Invite centers on a married couple played by Wilde and Seth Rogen. Their quiet life is shaken during a tense dinner with neighbors, played by Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton. The evening takes a sharp turn after an unexpected proposal. During a press event, Wilde explained her goal for the film. She said, I wanted to explore the messy, hilarious, and sometimes painful reality of long-term commitment.

She also spoke about the filming process. The movie was shot on 35mm film. Many scenes were filmed in order to help the actors feel the rising tension naturally. After the premiere, Wilde told reporters, Working with this group felt like a high-wire act every single day.

Wilde is also appearing on screen at the festival. She stars in Gregg Araki’s thriller I Want Your Sex. In that story, she plays an artist who forms a risky bond with a younger muse. The role marks a return to darker and more daring acting projects for her.

Her future plans are already lined up. She is attached to direct a film version of the comic book Avengelyne, which is rumored to feature Margot Robbie. She also recently appeared in the Apple TV+ comedy series The Studio, again working with Seth Rogen.

During an interview at Sundance, Wilde joked about her children’s interest in her work. She said, They want to know every detail of the story before I even start shooting.

This stage of her career feels focused and bold. She is not playing it safe. She is telling personal stories and taking creative risks. What do you think about her shift toward relationship-driven films and intense roles? Share your thoughts in the comments.
