Jacob Elordi is facing a wave of online criticism following a brief but widely shared fan encounter that some have labeled as dismissive. The interaction, which was captured on video and posted to TikTok by fitness instructor Olivia Amato, has sparked a heated debate regarding the actor’s demeanor toward his supporters.

In the clip, Amato is seen telling the Euphoria star that she felt like she was going to throw up because she was so overwhelmed by meeting him. Elordi responded to the comment by telling her don’t do that, that’s disgusting, a remark that quickly divided his fan base.

While some viewers found the exchange to be a lighthearted moment of deadpan humor, others were less impressed with the actor’s tone. Critics on social media described the response as actually so rude and weird, with one user even claiming the interaction completely changed their opinion of the star.

However, Amato herself was quick to defend the actor in the caption of her video, clarifying that the exchange was entirely harmless. She explained that she had jokingly told him she was going to be sick because she loved him sm and that his blunt reply actually left her in stitches.

The TikToker described the encounter as an amusing twist of fate and proof that dreams can indeed come true in the most chaotic ways. She encouraged her followers to embrace the fun and humor found in celebrity interactions, rather than taking every brief moment so seriously.

Despite the localized controversy, Elordi’s professional trajectory continues to climb with a string of high-profile projects. He is currently receiving significant awards buzz for his portrayal of the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, which premiered on Netflix in late 2025 and has already earned him a Critics’ Choice Award.

The 28-year-old actor also recently starred as Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights alongside Margot Robbie. While the film’s casting initially sparked some debate online, it has performed strongly at the box office since its release in February, further cementing Elordi’s status as a leading man.

Fans of his breakout role as Nate Jacobs can also look forward to his return in the long-awaited third season of Euphoria, which is scheduled to premiere on HBO on April 12. The new season will feature a significant time jump, moving the characters out of high school and into more complex, adult storylines.

Later this year, Elordi will also headline Ridley Scott’s post-apocalyptic thriller The Dog Stars, currently slated for an August 28 release. In the film, he plays a civilian pilot named Hig who navigates a world ravaged by a global pandemic, starring alongside Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley.
