Voice Actor Revealed For Garfield in Paramount+’s New Animated Series
Paramount+ has officially announced a new Garfield animated series, and Emmy-winning actor Lamorne Morris will bring the iconic lasagna-loving cat to life. The show will be a 2D animation produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios, staying true to Jim Davis’s classic comic strip while showcasing Garfield’s signature sarcasm and humor.
The series will be executive produced by Dave H. Johnson, known for Middlemost Post, and John Trabbic III, who has worked on SpongeBob SquarePants and Middlemost Post. It’s designed to appeal to both kids and adults, focusing on strong writing, memorable characters, and the playful spirit that fans have loved for decades.
Morris, famous for roles in New Girl, Fargo, and Spider-Noir, expressed excitement about taking on Garfield’s voice. He is also busy with other projects, including Jumanji 4 and the upcoming Spider-Noir on Prime Video. Beyond acting, Morris hosts the podcast The Lamorning After and co-hosts a New Girl rewatch podcast called The Mess Around.
Garfield is one of the world’s most popular comic characters, with over 200 million daily readers and millions of followers on social media. The franchise has been successful for nearly 50 years, expanding into merchandise, clothing, toys, books, food, and more.
This new animated series will join Paramount+’s growing family and kids lineup, which includes shows like The Elephant & Piggie Show! and The Pigeon Show! Starring The Pigeon. The focus on 2D animation is being praised for keeping attention on the characters and humor rather than special effects.
With Garfield’s enduring charm and Morris’s comedic talent, the series looks set to appeal to long-time fans and new viewers alike. I’m excited to step into Garfield’s shoes—or paws—and bring his humor to a new generation, Morris said about the project.
