Amazon MGM Studios is expanding its relationship with filmmaker Mike Flanagan. The studio has signed the director and showrunner to an exclusive multi-year television deal. Under this agreement, Flanagan will create and produce new original TV series for the company.

The partnership will also involve Flanagan’s production company, Red Room Pictures. According to reports about the deal, Amazon MGM Studios wants to continue working closely with the filmmaker, who has become one of the most recognized creators in the horror and genre space.

The agreement follows the completion of a new project Flanagan recently finished for the studio. He just wrapped production on a television adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie for Amazon. The series will be the first project released under this new partnership.

Flanagan has built a strong career both in film and television. He has written, directed, edited, and produced several movies over the years. His film work includes Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game, both based on books by Stephen King.

Other films he directed include Ouija: Origin of Evil, Hush, Before I Wake, Oculus, and Absentia. His most recent film, The Life of Chuck, premiered in 2024 and won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.

He is also preparing another major project. Flanagan is currently writing, directing, and producing a new version of The Exorcist for Blumhouse and Universal Pictures.

On television, Flanagan is known for creating several popular series. His shows include The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, and The Fall of the House of Usher. In many of these projects, he served as creator, writer, director, and showrunner.

This partnership makes sense for both sides. Mike Flanagan has built a strong reputation for telling horror and drama stories that connect with audiences. Amazon MGM Studios clearly wants to keep working with him and expand its lineup of original series. It will be interesting to see what new shows come from this deal.
