Steven Spielberg Has Been Named the World’s Richest Celebrity With an Eye-Watering Net Worth

According to Forbes, more celebrities than ever have made it onto the 2026 World’s Billionaires list. The magazine reports that 22 celebrities now have billionaire status, with a combined fortune of about $48.1 billion. That number has grown since last year, when Forbes counted 18 celebrity billionaires worth a total of $39 billion.

Forbes says the increase comes as athletes and entertainers continue to earn bigger contracts and endorsement deals. Many of them are also building businesses and acting more like entrepreneurs instead of just working as performers or players.

Several well-known names joined the billionaire list for the first time this year. Forbes says the new additions include Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, tennis legend Roger Federer, music producer Dr. Dre and film director James Cameron. They join other famous figures who have been on the list for years, including Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Oprah Winfrey. In more recent years, celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift and Rihanna have also reached billionaire status.

Forbes explains that its definition of a celebrity billionaire focuses on people who first became famous and then later built huge wealth. Because of that, the list mainly includes entertainers and athletes. The publication does not include wealthy figures who became famous because of their businesses or money, such as Donald Trump or Mark Cuban.

At the top of the celebrity wealth rankings is Steven Spielberg. Forbes estimates that the legendary film director has a net worth of about $7.1 billion. Spielberg, who is 79 and a citizen of the United States, is widely known as the highest-grossing film director of all time. He co-founded DreamWorks and created blockbuster movies that shaped Hollywood for decades.

His massive fortune is partly connected to a special deal tied to Universal theme parks. Because of his classic films like Jaws, Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones, Spielberg still receives a portion of the revenue from every ticket sold at Universal theme parks.

The famous director is also still working on new projects. His latest movie, a science-fiction thriller called Disclosure Day, is expected to be released in May. According to Forbes, Spielberg’s long career and business deals continue to keep him among the richest celebrities in the world.
