Nicole Kidman Reveals She Was Disgusted When Kissing a Colleague on Set
Nicole Kidman has officially issued a warning to any future co-stars: if you are planning to share a kissing scene with her, stay as far away from falafel sandwiches as possible. The Oscar-winning actress appeared on a recent episode of the Las Culturistas podcast with hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang.
She candidly discussed her biggest professional deal-breaker. She explained that she is incredibly sensitive to smell and that bad breath is an immediate no-go for her, especially on set.
Kidman didn’t hold back when recalling a specific incident from her time filming the hit HBO drama Big Little Lies. She revealed that she had to set some firm boundaries with her co-star, Alexander Skarsgård, after he ate a falafel sandwich right before they were scheduled to film intimate scenes.
“I’m meant to be into you and kissing you — put away the falafel now,” Kidman recalled telling him on set. She confidently added that after she made her request, “I’m sure he did not eat a falafel ever again.”
During the conversation, Kidman also joked about her relief when she temporarily lost her sense of smell due to COVID, jokingly saying that she felt “free” for a short time. She did admit, however, that her sense of smell has returned and that she has become very particular about who she wants to be around.
When asked who she believes smells the best, she didn’t hesitate for a second, declaring, “Rihanna. We don’t need to unwind it or decipher it, just know that it’s all true.” Beyond her latest podcast appearance, Kidman is currently having an incredibly busy year.
She just premiered her new crime thriller series Scarpetta on Prime Video on March 11, where she stars as forensic pathologist Kay Scarpetta alongside Jamie Lee Curtis and Bobby Cannavale.
The series is based on the popular book franchise by Patricia Cornwell and explores the character’s life across two different timelines. The actress is also moving forward personally following her highly publicized divorce from Keith Urban, which was finalized earlier this year.
She has spoken openly about finding resilience and moving toward what is good for her and her family. In the coming months, she will continue to be a dominant force on screen with several major projects currently in the works.
Fans can look forward to seeing her reunite with Sandra Bullock in the long-awaited fantasy sequel Practical Magic 2, which is slated for release later this year. Additionally, she is set to star alongside Elle Fanning in the Apple TV+ series Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
The series arrives in April, and she will produce and star in the upcoming Paramount+ legal thriller Discretion. With a jam-packed schedule of high-profile roles, Kidman remains one of the busiest and most bankable stars in Hollywood today.
