The iconic world of sun, sand, and high-stakes rescues is officially returning to television as Livvy Dunne joins the cast of the upcoming Fox reboot of Baywatch. The 23-year-old internet sensation and former collegiate gymnast is set to step into the role of Grace, a character who is described as a highly enthusiastic junior lifeguard.

This casting marks a significant pivot into scripted drama for the influencer, who has become a household name through her massive social media presence and athletic background.

The revival is shaping up to be a star-studded affair with a diverse ensemble joining the ranks of the Los Angeles County lifeguards. Leading the pack is Stephen Amell, who is stepping into the shoes of the central character, Hobie Buchannon, while David Chokachi is slated to return as his familiar character, Cody Madison.

Other notable names rounding out the cast include Shay Mitchell, Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Brooks Nader, and Noah Beck. According to the official plot summary for the new series, the premise focuses on the evolution of the Buchannon legacy.

The synopsis explains that the wild child Hobie Buchannon (Amell) from the original series is now a Baywatch captain, following in the footsteps of his legendary father Mitch (Hasselhoff).

However, his professional life becomes complicated when his long-lost daughter, Charlie, portrayed by Belkin, arrives to claim her place in the family business and train alongside him.

While the original show defined a generation of television from 1989 to 2001, this modern update aims to capture that same high-stakes energy for a new audience. Fox has announced that the series will be a flagship title for the 2026-2027 broadcast season.

Although fans are eagerly awaiting more details, the network has yet to pin down an exact premiere date for the show’s debut. Livvy Dunne’s transition from elite gymnastics at Louisiana State University to television acting is the latest chapter in her rapidly evolving public career.

She has recently been focusing on expanding her brand beyond collegiate sports, leveraging her platform to advocate for student-athlete opportunities and professional growth.

This television role is expected to be a major breakout moment that introduces her to a much broader demographic of traditional media viewers. Stephen Amell, widely known for his tenure as Oliver Queen in the long-running superhero drama Arrow, brings a wealth of experience in physically demanding lead roles.

His involvement is seen as a key selling point for the show, which will likely require a blend of action-oriented stunts and character-driven drama. The production is currently under heavy scrutiny from long-time fans of the original series who hope the reboot maintains the spirit of the lifeguard procedural while modernizing it for contemporary standards.

The show is expected to lean into the nostalgic appeal of the original lifeguard premise while introducing fresh interpersonal conflicts centered on the Buchannon family dynamic.

With the combined star power of the cast and the proven track record of the franchise, this reboot is poised to be one of the most discussed projects of the upcoming television year.

Whether it can match the longevity and cultural impact of the 11-season original remains to be seen, but the initial production buzz suggests that the general anticipation is very high.
