Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet reportedly had a tense moment at the 2026 Oscars, according to lip reader Nicola Hickling. The pair were seated next to each other at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 15, but they did not pose together on the red carpet. Timothée was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme, while Kylie attended in support of her longtime partner.
A clip shared by Entertainment Tonight shows Timothée making a finger-gun gesture toward someone off-camera before turning to Kylie. According to Hickling, he whispered a short, sharp message to Kylie’s sister, Pauline, and later appeared to speak to Kylie herself. Kylie allegedly rolled her eyes in response, saying, “Now you’re being a child, so shut up.”

The couple has been publicly linked since April 2023, after first being spotted together at a Jean Paul Gaultier show during Paris Fashion Week in January 2023. Their first major public outing as a couple was at Beyoncé’s Renaissance concert in LA that September, and they officially walked a red carpet together at the 70th David Di Donatello Awards in Rome in May 2025. Throughout award season, Kylie has been a constant presence, supporting Timothée at events where he was nominated.
At earlier award shows this year, including the 2026 Golden Globes and the Critics’ Choice Awards, Timothée publicly acknowledged Kylie during his acceptance speeches. Despite the apparent awkward exchange during the ceremony, the couple has shown a strong public bond over the past three years.
