Beloved ‘iZombie’ and ‘Supernatural’ Star Passes Away at 51, Cause of Death Revealed

Carrie Anne Fleming, the Canadian actress known for her roles in shows like iZombie and Supernatural, passed away on February 26 in Sidney, British Columbia. She was 51. Her Supernatural co-star Jim Beaver confirmed to Variety that Fleming died from complications related to breast cancer.

Fleming was born on August 16, 1974, in Digby, Nova Scotia. She grew up in British Columbia, attending Mount Douglas Senior Secondary in Victoria. She studied drama at the Kaleidoscope Theatre and the Kidco Theatre Dance Company in Victoria, which helped shape her acting career.

She started acting in television and films with a recurring role on Viper and appeared in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore. Fleming continued to take on small roles until 2005, when director Dario Argento cast her in his show Masters of Horror. In the episode “Jenifer,” she played a disfigured woman with cannibalistic tendencies. She also appeared in other horror productions, including The Tooth Fairy and Bloodsuckers.

Fleming had a recurring role on Supernatural as Karen Singer, the wife of Bobby Singer, played by Jim Beaver. She later appeared in the 2015 TV movie The Unauthorized Full House Story, portraying the mother of Candace Cameron Bure, who played DJ Tanner on Full House.

In more recent years, Fleming was best known for her recurring role as Candy Baker on the CW series iZombie, appearing for five seasons. Outside of television, she also performed on stage in British Columbia in productions like Noises Off, Romeo and Juliet, Steel Magnolias, and Fame.

Fleming is survived by her daughter, Madalyn Rose (Max). A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
