An unexpected link has surfaced between the security detail of pop star Chappell Roan and a high-profile 2016 crime. The bodyguard involved in a recent confrontation with the 11-year-old daughter of actor Jude Law has been identified as Pascal Duvier.

The 53-year-old security professional previously served as the head of protection for Kim Kardashian and was on her team during the infamous $10 million jewelry heist in Paris. The recent controversy took place at the Palácio Tangará, a luxury hotel in São Paulo, Brazil, where Roan was staying during the Lollapalooza music festival.

According to witnesses, Duvier “aggressively” approached young Ada Law while she was having breakfast with her mother, Catherine Harding. The incident reportedly began after the child walked past the singer’s table to confirm her identity before returning to her own seat.

The girl’s stepfather, professional soccer player Jorginho Frello, took to social media to condemn the guard’s behavior, stating that the interaction left the child in floods of tears. He claimed that Duvier scolded the pair in a threatening manner, accusing the preteen of being “badly educated” and harassing the singer.

“Would he do that if he didn’t have her authority to do so? I don’t know,” Harding questioned in her own post, though she noted that Roan has since denied personally ordering the intervention.

Duvier’s history in the industry is well-documented, specifically his dismissal from the Kardashian-West camp shortly after the 2016 robbery. At the time of the heist, he was at a nightclub with Kardashian’s sisters, leaving the reality star vulnerable at her residence.

He later settled a multi-million dollar lawsuit with an insurance firm over the security breaches. Following the latest altercation in Brazil, Roan issued a public apology to the Law family, maintaining that she was unaware of the guard’s actions at the time.

The fallout has reached the highest levels of local government, with Rio de Janeiro’s newly inaugurated Mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, issuing a public ban on the singer. Cavaliere stated that Roan would not be permitted to perform at major city venues under his leadership, contrasting her team’s behavior with that of other global stars.

“I doubt that Shakira would do that!” the mayor remarked while inviting Ada Law to be a guest of honor at a future concert in the city. In the wake of the incident, fellow musician Lewis Capaldi was seen cheering up the young fan by posing for photos and offering words of encouragement.

While Chappell Roan continues her rise as a breakout star with hits like “Pink Pony Club,” the conduct of her security team has cast a shadow over her South American debut. The singer recently indicated that her current festival run might be her last for some time, as she has no immediate plans for a follow-up tour.
