Charlize Theron Faces a Terrifying Serial Killer in Heart-Pounding New ‘Apex’ Trailer
Netflix has dropped a new look at its upcoming action-thriller “Apex,” starring Charlize Theron in a deadly game of survival. The film also features Taron Egerton and Eric Bana, and it promises high-stakes action set against the rugged beauty of Australia.
Theron plays a grieving woman who retreats to the Australian wilderness, hoping to find peace, only to face a relentless predator. In the trailer, she arrives at Wandarra National Park after getting directions from Egerton’s character at a gas station. When she complains that gear from her truck has been stolen, he casually admits, “I was the one to take it.” From there, the hunt begins.
The trailer shows Theron racing through dense forests, navigating rapids, and scrambling down cliffs while Egerton pursues her with a crossbow, giving her a head start timed to the duration of a song. The tension-filled tagline, “Hunt or be hunted,” flashes across the screen as the chase escalates. “Apex” was filmed on location in New South Wales, including the iconic Blue Mountains, highlighting Australia’s rugged terrain as a key element of the story.

Baltasar Kormákur, known for directing “Everest,” helms the project, with a script by Jeremy Robbins. The film is produced by a combination of Chernin Entertainment, Ian Bryce Productions, RVK Studios, and Theron’s Secret Menu banner, with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, David Ready, Ian Bryce, Baltasar Kormákur, Charlize Theron, A.J. Dix, and Beth Kono all involved. Executive producers include Ray Angelic, Will McCance, and Dawn Olmstead.
